Queensland takes action on drought concerns

 In Uncategorized

Drought is one of the biggest challenges to Australian businesses, industries and homeowners. As the driest populated continent on Earth, Australians have a constant battle against the elements to make sure they have enough water to stay productive during the summer months.

It also doesn't help when the country is in the middle of one of the most intense El Niño phases in recent memory. Queenslanders in particular feel the effects, with the farming community finding it difficult to prepare for the sheer impact a shortage of water can bring to their properties.

Fortunately, there appears to be a consensus around improving our resources to ensure we stay up and running when drought strikes.

The federal government recently opened applications for its Drought Concessional Loan or a Drought Recovery Concessional Loan scheme.

The state will fund up to $30 million for the former type of loan and $15 million for the latter, in a bid to help farmers affected by water shortage get on a better financial footing.

The Federal Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce, described the scale of drought in the appropriately named Sunshine State.

"Queensland farmers are doing it very tough, with up to 80 per cent of the state now recognised as being in drought by the State Government," he explained in an October 9 media release.

However, prevention is often better than the cure. While drought may still be a constant concern for Queensland landowners of all types, an effective water-storage scheme can ensure they have the resources they need to make life that little easier.

If you are looking for a polyethylene water tank in Queensland, your local supplier will be able to help. Nu-Tank, for instance, manufactures tanks of all shapes and sizes, and will help you find the type to suit your needs.

To ensure your poly water tank is made specifically for Australia's tough conditions, ask your supplier for a product made from Alkatuff.
